Fairy Kisses & Magical Dreams by Raine Delight
Publisher: Aspen Mountain Press
Genre: Erotic Paranormal
Summary: Prince Aryan has searched his world for the one woman that is his destined mate but has just about given up when he is led to the human world. Even though it is forbidden to fall in love with a human, he finds Skye Andrews completely delectable and wonders if she is his chosen love.
Skye Andrews has had it with men. After another disastrous date, her aunt gives her a love potion to try. With a magic spell and a mysterious face haunting her waking days, will Skye find the love she is looking for?
My Review: In this story there was some quick, witty dialog between both the main and secondary characters, which helped to keep the pace of the story fast. I loved that it was a quick read, only 36 pages, on average a reader can finish this in just a couple of hours. The conversations between the main characters at the end of the book are very warm and loving. Aryan gently explains to Skye how and why everything has happened, he tells her that everything about them being and staying together is her decision. Then proceeds to make love to her again.
I guess this is my problem with the book. Everything is nice, gentle, sweet. I started to read a book with quick wit and a funny premise but it seemed to fall flat quickly. The beginning of the second chapter started that same way and I thought “OK, maybe she just lost her spark and
now she has it back” but quickly it seemed to just sputter and go out again. The idea for the book is very good, and in this reviewers opinion, if the writer had continued in the humorous vein that she initially seemed to promise, I think this would have been so much more entertaining.I kept waiting for the main characters to meet and when they do, I still had some expectations, hopes maybe, that in the end she would pull it out and give me a heart pounding, toe curling, lip smacking, I have to take a cold shower right now because this is the hottest most sensuous, erotic love scene I have ever read in my life (she has that potential, I saw it a few times in her writing). Instead I got a conversation between the main characters, which is wonderful cuddle conversation but just a “Ya, OK"
On the “oh baby, do me again, right now scale” to me a conversation in a written book can be as erotic as an actual described physical love scene. The love scenes at the end, although abundant, in reality seemed almost gratuitous. I would have like to have seen less scenes and way more heat.
All and all, I think that Ms. Delight wrote a book well worth reading. I think she has a brilliant future in writing if she could just pull her story together and keep the premise the same through the whole book, if she wants to write a comedy then add it throughout the book. It can still be a comedy and be erotic. Everyone knows laughter during sex makes for fabulous sex. There were many wonderful things about this book, but just as many things to distract from it.
Rated 2 ½ Delightful Divas by Sherry!
