My Review: Mina Carter you have outdone yourself! Playing with Fyre is so much more than I could have anticipated after getting a brief peek at Logan in Rockstar! You have mixed a sensual kick ass woman with a hot bad boy in a suit and created a timeless love story that will send any reader into bliss.
I could go on forever how much I loved this story and Rae and Logan but I’ll settle down for a moment. Rae is a strong woman but instead of being irritating or temperamental, Ms. Carter has given her depth and dimension. Each emotion a reader hopes to have in a good book was given with beautiful crafting. Logan could have come across as unlikable, but Ms. Carter’s
skillful writing created a man that every woman wants. They type of masculinity that we fantasize about. Tough, but his smooth touches and gentle manner made him come alive on the pages.
A lot of books have tantalizing sex but Playing with Fyre surpasses that. The sensuality and anticipation builds, layer by layer, applied with a finesse that left this reviewer thrilled. Ms. Carter has the ability to draw the reader in and let them become the heroine. So descriptive in her love scenes, I may be waking up my husband. I might even purchase a copy for him and let him read how it’s to be done.
I appreciated a brief visit with JJ from Rockstar to see how marriage and fatherhood were going for him. It was a sweet touch that let me spy for a moment on his new family.
Oh, I was so unhappy when I got to the end of the story. I just want Mina to know, I stomped my foot and used a few choice words. In my heart’s desire, I wanted this incredible story to go to a full length novel, hell with that, push it to super novel length! Then I might stop whining. Hmmm, maybe Ms. Carter would consider expanding Playing with Fyre for me??? At least tell me if Rae and Logan had a family and if he turned out to be an amazing husband and father. I have to know!
Once you’ve read this outstanding story, it will always stay with you and you’ll re-read it, time and again. It’s one of those types of books. Readers, go grab the prequel Rockstar and then Playing with Fyre. Each stands alone but combined, they’ll make you hungry for another.
