Like A Queen: Lesbian Erotic Fairy Tales edited by Cecilia Tan and Rachel Kincaid
Publisher: Circlet Press, Inc.
Genre: Lesbian Erotic Fantasy

Summary: Five lesbian fairytales that feature classic stories like "Cinderella" and "The Princess and the Pea" with a queer twist. What are the erotic possibilities of the enchanted princesses and forbidding queens that we learned about as children? Discover the love story between Gretel and the Witch and the intoxicating tale of Cinderella's seductively severe stepmother It wasn't a pea in her mattress that kept the Princess up all night, and the story didn't end when the Prince found Snow White in the woods. Instead of competing for princes or beauty, the women in these stories are made more powerful by their desire for each other.
Includes stories by ADR Forte, Michael M. Jones, Kaysee Renee Robichaud, Clarice Clique and Quatre Grey.
My Review:
Mirror by Clarice Clique Summary: The Evil Queen is fascinated with Snow White, yet slightly afraid of her as well. In the end it isn't the Prince who is Snow White’s true love.
Review of Mirror: "Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?" We all know this line. That dang evil witch. In this story she really isn't all that wicked. Sure, she gives Snow White a poisoned apple and tries to get her huntsman to kill her, but it's out of jealousy. We also discover that true love’s kiss isn't what we thought. I really don't think the Grimm Brothers would approve of this version and Disney is definitely not going to be making a remake. But I enjoyed it.
The Queen's Jewel by ADR Forte Summary: The Pea under her mattress isn't the reason the Princess is sleep deprived and bruised.
Review of The Queen's Jewel: After spending time with a band of thieves, the Princess is ready to return to royal life. But she doesn't have her sights on the Prince; it's the Queen who'
s piqued her fancy. This is a hot little tale, with an interesting use for pearls.
Gretel's Dilemma by Kaysee Renee Robichaud Summary: Apparently the Wicked Witch isn't as wicked as we were told. Now Gretel has to come out of the broom closet to her family. Can she explain that it's not a magic spell keeping her with the Witch?
Review of Gretel's Dilemma: Gretel has a good life with her Witch. Living in their gingerbread house is wonderful. Yet she has a problem, her brother Hansel thinks she's be-witched and one day the Wicked Witch will eat her. He's right on one of those; the witch does want to eat her, just not in the way he thinks. I really liked this story, especially how everything of the Witches was made of candy from her gumdrop buttons down to her black licorice undies. The happily ever after ending is really nice too.
After the Hunt by Michael M. Jones Summary: Sophie thought she was in love with King Matthias. But when things fall apart she realizes her love lies elsewhere and comes up with a plan to help everyone involved.
Review of After the Hunt: This story is full of plans and schemes and witchery. Princess Sophie becomes Alaric the King's head huntsman in order to get close to him. This is just one of the myriad of schemes used so two unconventional couples can be together. This has a very interesting plot, and satisfying happily ever after.
The Stepmother's Girl by Quatre Grey Summary: In this version of Cinderella, Cindy's submissive side rules. Her wicked step-mother is her Mistress and it isn't the Prince she desires to see at the ball.
Review of The Stepmother's Girl: This is an extremely dark version of Cinderella. The Step-mother is into all sorts of dark seduction, which leaves Cindy just begging for more. It's definitely an interesting take on this story, yet might not be for everyone.
