Like a Thorn: An Anthology of BDSM Stories by Various Authors
Publisher: Circlet Press
Genre: Erotic Fantasy

Summary: Five classic fairy tales reemerge as deliciously dark erotica stories with a BDSM twist. These stories describe the many diverse faces of bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism in sexy encounters ranging from haunting to healing, and painful to playful. You'll discover. How a witch really likes to punish naughty interlopers, why Beauty might love her beast more than the prince, how to produce handy bruises when a pea just won't do the trick--and more. Ranging from present day to "once upon a time" settings, each story offers a fresh perspective to both legend and BDSM.
Includes the stories:
Cinder Feet by Mari Ness
The Princess and Peony by Mercy Loomis
The Last Mistress of the Chatelaine by Kieran Wyn Dewhurst
That Wicked Witchcraft by Sunny Moraine
Skin Deep by Shanna Germain
Cinder Feet by Mari Ness Summary: Mari Ness' haunting Cinder Feet tells us just how high a price Cinderella might have had to pay for not making it home by midnight, yet how worthy that price might be.
Cinder Feet Review: This was a variation on Cinderella. To be honest, this was really short, even for a short story. I was completely caught off guard and confused by this story. It wasn't until close to the end that I realized that Cinders was at her step-mother's feet taking her orders, not her fairy godmother's. I found the whole story disturbing and not erotic in the least.
The Princess and Peony by Mercy Loomis Summary: The Princess and Peony by Mercy Loomis is a charming romp between a princess and her part-time maid/full-time lover who plots to produce princess-ly bruises with a sexier method than sleeping on a pea.
The Princess and Peony Review: This is a variation on The Princess and The Pea, and was a nice tale. I enjoyed the interaction between the Princess and her part-time maid/full-time lover. I enjoyed the role changes, in which the maid is the Mistress and the Princess is the submissive. There is a twist at the end that just makes this story.
The Last Mistress of the Chatelaine by Kieran Dewhurst Summary: Kieran Dewhurst's The Last Mistress of the Chatelaine tells of the sweeping yet down-to-earth romance between the dreaded Bluebeard and his seventh wife, who uses spunk and sense to help her husband face his sins head-on with a deliciously brutal punishment.

The Last Mistress of the Chatelaine Review: I think I liked this one the most; it's a variation on the tale Bluebeard's Wives or the Seven Wives of Bluebeard. I like how Sophie, the seventh wife, turns the tables. When faced with what her husband’s done, she doesn't back down. Sophie delivers punishment and helps him deal with his sins, in an extremely brutal way.
That Wicked Witchcraft by Sunny Moraine Summary: That Wicked Witchcraft by Sunny Moraine follows a present-day story in which a modern witch discovers two teenage thieves in her house--and comes close to eating them for dinner after she ties them up.
That Wicked Witchcraft Review: I enjoyed this story as well; it's a variation on Hansel and Gretel. The wicked witch is much less wicked than I'd thought she'd be. It's a hot story, but the only one eating anything is Gretel. I liked how the "witch" got a taste of her own medicine, but there were no ovens involved. This was a cute story.
Skin Deep by Shanna Germain Summary: Shanna Germain's lyrical Skin Deep tells of a controversial Belle: one who didn't go to the beast as his saving grace, but to revel with him (and often over him) in the darkness of the enchanted castle and the painful price he must pay for her affections.
Skin Deep Review: I found this to be an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast. I found this Belle to be, well, enchanting. She seems to care for the Beast as is, not wanting to turn him back into his princely self. I enjoyed this story as well. I found myself hoping that Belle would get her way.
