Dark Goddess Trilogy Book One: Cat's Curse by Kelley Heckart
Publisher: Awe-Struck Books
Genre: Celtic historical/Fantasy romance

Summary: Cardea, follower of the Great Goddess is cursed to live an eternity as a blood drinker. For centuries she has lived with hate hunting and feeding off humans. Now she finds herself at the end of a sword blade held by the most handsome and arrogant man she has ever met.
Aedan mac Gabrain, prince of Dal Riata and a Christian, trusts no one after suffering a curse that keeps him from touching any females or he will turn into a black cat like his brother. He especially distrusts this strange female who could be the one who cursed his clan since no one knows Cat Anna's true face.
Can two tortured souls find love while battling a dark goddess determined to destroy them?
My Review: I must admit that at first I did not think this book would flow for me, because it was slow on the take off. But it picked up quite nicely. As I read on I could see the characters begin to come to life in this book.
This book is set in the time of strong dark castle stuff, mid-evil, when Christianity was becoming well known. Cardea and Aadan both suffer from their past. Hoping to find what they need to heal, they turn to each other for friendship. The love scenes are soft and sensual, not graphic.

Cardea is a strong heroine willing to take what was heaved onto her and make the most of it. I find it wonderful that she is made of strength and is not timid. Aadan is something of a mystery, but as his character unravels he comes to life as you read along. I found myself understanding what he was doing for his family.
Cat's Curse by Kelley Heckart is a book filled with witchcraft, curses, and unconditional bonds between a man and woman. The question is will they survive what was cast upon them?
I think as long as the reader stays with the story they will have a very enjoyable book. Cat's Curse is the first of the Dark Goddess Trilogy; a historical not to be missed.
Kelley Heckart is a multi-talented author who has us believing that anything is possible. She brings her book to life and lets our imaginations soar!
