Flesh by Melissa Glisan
Publisher: Red Rose Publishing
Genre: Erotic Paranormal Horror

Summary: What do you see when you look into the mirror of your own self loathing?
For years Phaedra Borruso suffered night terrors, horrible fantasies of personal destruction that left her bleeding—awake and asleep—until she arrived at October's Promise.
Dr. Allan Ryder opened his clinic, based his practice in clinical psychology, around an unrequited love. In healing Phaedra, he hoped to have exorcised that ghost only to have it resurrected years later when Phaedra, now an adult, returns more haunted than ever.
Can he see past the textbook treatments to what lies beyond the unconscious mind in time to save the young woman he really loves?
Warning this title includes graphic violence.
My Review: Flesh by Melissa Glisan is a short novella that packs a powerful punch. I normally would not read, or watch for that matter, horror. However, the blurb for this book was so intriguing that I could not resist. I am happy that I went ahead and read Flesh, only now I am wishing that I had read the first book, Blood and Honey. While this book can be read as a stand-alone title, I do believe that the first book contains information vital to understanding just what is going on, because I did feel like I was dropped into the middle of a major story and only got the barest of background information in Flesh.

Phaedra is a haunted young woman, and I believe she is actually a good person who can’t help what is going on with her. I felt horrible for her. She has endured some unimaginable horrors and I can only hope that the next book finds her finding some peace and happiness.
Allan is a great man. He strives to help his patients and truly feels for them. He does his best to make their stay and treatment at his facility the best that it can be, and will not blink to terminate employees to ensure the quality of care that his patients receive.
The plot itself is the most interesting, yet the most confusing part. As I mentioned before, I believe that the first book in the series would address some of that confusion, and the third book would clear everything else up. That being said, Flesh is a well-written book with a very intriguing plot. I eagerly await the release of the third book.
This is my first experience with Melissa Glisan, but I can guarantee that it will not be my last!

Thank you so much for the review, I'm glad you enjoyed the story even though you normally don't go for the spooky types of books/movies :)
Have a happy Halloween!
It was my pleasure. Yeah, I am not generally a horror kind of girl, but your writing is very good.
