Summary: Danielle had no idea what would happen to her when her cruel stepmother called for her. She didn’t know she was being sold in marriage to a man she’d never met. And when she did meet him, she couldn’t see beyond the foreboding mask he wore.Christopher would pay any price to win Danielle as his own, even respecting her request for separate bedrooms. But can his gentleness win her over, or will she always see him as the beast?
Amanda's Review: I like historical romances, especially when they are written well. Ms. Stone has written a wonderful, loving story, and left me holding my breath like a good suspense book does.
Danielle reminds me of Cinderella in many ways. I began to wonder if maybe Ms. Stone was recreating this fairy tale; soon though, I slammed that door closed and read something the Brothers Grimm would never have considered reading material for children.
Danielle was left to an evil step mother who used every resource Danielle’s father had left the young girl and then some. When the debtors came knocking, marrying off Danielle seemed perfect. They chose a man they figured would treat her unkind and give her the life they thought befit her. Boy, they were mistaken.

I love how both Danielle and Christopher have frailties and how they both slowly but surely overcome their insecurities. I love how Christopher is a gentleman, never once trying to push Danielle into doing something she wasn’t ready for.
I know this might also cause waves, but I have to say that I really love how Ms. Stone portrayed Danielle’s step brother, David. Peeps believe me, I have never read about a more vile, obnoxious, squishy character than David. Just reading about him or reading his words made my skin crawl and made me shiver. I swear I read just a bit faster through his parts because I hoped he would get what was coming to him. At the end of the story, I just about jumped out of my chair and cheered. I couldn’t have been happier.
Would I change anything, no, well let me take that back, I think I would have liked a little longer of a story. I think this tale deserved the chance to grow and become a true classic. A Gift of Love by Wendy Stone is an amazing story and well worth your time.
I am a very happy diva right now.
