Halloween Romance by Donaya Haymond

Halloween Romance by Donaya Haymond
Publisher: Eternal Press
Genre: Paranormal

Dislcosure: Review Copy received from Publisher

Summary: Your secrets aren't as bad as you think.

Selene believes Ferdinand would abandon her if he knew she was a werewolf, something that isn't supposed to exist. Ferdinand hides his vampirism from her for the same reasons, and must also hide from a world that thinks he's evil. He's just a melancholy English major who had a serious misadventure last summer. She's just a college student with a bizarre family history. A comedy of secrets and a romance of accepting what makes us different.

Melissa's Review: I was first intrigued by the blurb for Halloween Romance by Donaya Haymond. Then I thought, hey, it's October, the perfect time to read this book!

I found Halloween Romance to be different, but refreshing in a lot of ways. First, the characters are normal, everyday college students. They aren't gorgeous alpha males and beautiful ladies. Instead, they look and act as anyone else does. I am not saying that I don't enjoy those alpha hunks or that I don't dream of being one of the beautiful women that manage to snag them, but I am saying that Halloween Romance was a nice change of pace.

One of the first things I noticed was that Selene's and Ferdinand's friends all knew about their “condition”. It was a little surprising that their friends knew, and that they were taking it all in stride, and even helping them live with their differences. However, the acceptance, caring, and love between all characters turned out to be a nice touch.

Overall, Halloween Romance moves along at a steady pace with only a few hitches in flow. The character development was great, as was the plot.

Halloween Romance was a fun read. This is my first experience with Donaya Haymond. I did a little research and learned that the author is only eighteen years old, and was impressed that someone so young is already a published author. Her writing is good now, but I am sure with experience and a few more books under her belt, she will refine her talent and will become an author to watch.

Rated 3 ½ Delightful Divas by Melissa!
