Summary: Forty-five-year-old college professor Vincent Norton expects to spend the rest of his life alone. After all, he had more than twenty years with the love of his life before losing him to an accident. When he meets his 21-year-old neighbor, Vince is shocked and upset to find himself once again attracted to someone, but this time, it’s a man half his age.

College student Rob Bridges has always liked older men, but even he’s a little surprised at how attractive he finds his much older neighbor. Once he realizes he wants Vince, Rob sets his mind on catching him.

Will Vince let himself be caught, or will his indecision ruin their chance at happiness?

Kathy’s Review: I’d yet to read anything by Cassandra Gold, other than some excerpts, but I was still prepared to enjoy her book Fool for Love; I wasn’t in the least disappointed! While I was reading Vince and Rob’s story, I could see what was taking place. I didn’t feel that I was on the sidelines, rather I felt personally involved; I was definitely emotionally connected to these two men. And I was also interested in many of the other characters. Ms. Gold has a way of bringing her characters to life, creating a connection that is more akin to one of friends.

I was also awestruck at the maturity of Rob; even at 21 he’s a man who knows who he is and he knows what he wants. I didn’t find him at all ‘made up’ as it were, but a real person, a person who, even though young in years, is much wiser than his age would suggest... and we all know people like that.

Vince is another man who I felt was a real person; he’s lost everyone in his life that was important to him. And he’s learned to channel the sense of loss he has into his career. His work and a limited social life are his life, that is, until Rob decides that he really likes what he sees in his neighbor. Yes, there’s a large difference in their ages, but with these two men, it really is a number and quite irrelevant.

Watching as Vince comes back to life and as Rob’s vitality and zest for living brings Vince back from the brink of being old before his time, is a real pleasure. Cassandra Gold could have written a much longer story that I would have enjoyed greatly; as it is, Fool for Love is perfect and has confirmed for me that this is an author whose books in my TBR deserve my imminent attention. Brava Ms. Gold, well done!
