Lycan Lore by Shannon Leigh

Lycan Lore by Shannon Leigh
Publisher: Amber Heat
Genre: Erotic Paranormal

Melissa's Top Pick for April!

Summary: Being the tag-along on a camping trip with Heather and Graham is not what Cassandra has in mind for her long weekend. When a tall, dark stranger with staggering green eyes shows up to lend a hand with her tent assembly from Hell, however, she has to rethink her predicament. Despite the mixture of excitement and apprehension he incites with his soul-startling stare, the possibility that she’s just found her brawny Tarzan in the depths of Redwood National Park suddenly doesn’t seem so absurd.

Cray feels an equally potent draw to the fiery redhead with the soft hazel eyes, attractive features, and tempting shape. Despite his resolve, she provokes a primordial calling he’s long sought to contain. He wants this female, he can’t deny, but he knows giving in to such unabashed urges can lead to disaster, and he refuses to sentence this woman to his own horrid fate.

But just as powerful as Cray’s attraction is his unexpected surge of protectiveness. There’s something about Cassandra’s male friend that needles his suspicion. Graham invokes Cray’s predatory sense of dominance, and that doesn’t bode well. If his instincts are correct, Cray knows Graham is more than he appears and Cassandra’s life is in danger...

My Review: Lycan Lore is the first book in the Lycan Lore series. Shannon Leigh has combined some of the old fairy tales about werewolves with her own twist on lycan lore. This book is filled with highly erotic scenes between Cassie and Cray, as well as a couple intense action scenes. Ms. Leigh writes with such delicate detail, the reader is drawn in and held captive by her strong characters and their surroundings. This is my first Shannon Leigh book, but if this book is any indication, I will be looking for more from this author, and can’t wait to read the sequel to this book, so I can learn more about Cassie and Cray.

Hunters of the Nile by Ellie Moonwater

Hunters of the Nile by Ellie Moonwater
Publisher: Lyrical Press
Genre: Erotic Fantasy

Summary:
This is a sweet short story in which a woman named Callie is pulled from her own world and time to a place that closely resembles Ancient Egypt. During her time there an erotic romance unfolds between her and a warrior prince named Horem.

My Review: This was a fun and sexy short read perfect for getting the blood, (and other things), pumping. The mystery surrounding Callie and Horem’s relationship as well as a few exciting situations provided the story a suspense that made it wonderful.

Lots of erotic play, including a bit with honey and grapes, is peppered throughout the book. This plus a fun playfulness between the characters make Hunters of the Nile a heady but light read. Ellie Moonwater has certainly created a yummy piece of fantasy that would make a delicious and lovely reality. I will be looking forward to more of her stories in the future.

Within These Stone Walls by Desiree Lee

Within These Stone Walls by Desiree Lee
Publisher: DCL Publications
Genre: Historical Suspense

Summary:
If walls could talk…

Danica Heuer gave her word to her Uncle Arthur on his deathbed. She would take her inheritance and buy a castle. The remark was flippant at the time, but now that Uncle Art is gone, she is honor-bound to keep that promise.

The castle Danica buys turns out to be the boon she needed to lift her spirits. Majestic and dignified, she falls in love with her new purchase immediately. The steward is a bit odd, but so far has been helpful and very informative about the castle’s rich history and lore. Things are perfect. Or are they?

Danica’s dreams become tumultuous. Strange sounds in the night wake her. The longer she stays, the more hushed whispers she hears in town about her castle.

What will Danica do when she discovers the terrifying truth about her castle, contained deep Within These Stone Walls?

My Review: Lord Andreas Vollhoffer thought he was condemned to die in the hole he was placed in, inside his own castle. Over centuries, Radulf, the steward of the castle, held power over Lord Vollhoffer, changing him from mortal to Vampire. Andreas was his weakest at the new moon, so Radulf used that against him. Andreas gave up all hope, that was until the gods sent him an angel.

Danica Heuer knew her Uncle was dying, she loved him, he was the only relative she had left, Danica loved him so. When he asked here what would she do now she joked about buying a castle and becoming a princess and on his death bed, her Uncle made her promise to keep her word . Now after his death Danica finds herself with a castle all her own, but even her castle held secrets. What Danica did not expect to find is an 700 year old Lord that needed saving.

Danica and friends set out to free Andreas from Radulf's spell. Danger lurking in every corner, will they be able to save Lord Vollhoffer? Or will Radulf catch onto their scheme and stop them?
Will Andreas and Danica find something more between themselves, one never knows when there is passion between man and woman.

Within These Stone Walls is a not to miss story! It will have you wanting to never put it down till the last page is read. Mystery and intrigue is what makes this book so good. Of course having a sexy Lord in the story helps a bit too.

Desiree Lee is a truly brilliant author! She captures and holds your attention till the last words are read. I know I am never disappointed. Des, Thank you for another edge of your seat story.

The Fallen Fae by Connie Wood

The Fallen Fae by Connie Wood

Aleta is unaware she is the payment of a deal made between her grandfather and the Fae. With her grandfather gone she discovers a faerie stone allowing Shae to come to her and set their destiny in motion.

My Review: Shae's fall from grace has him in a mess. His chosen one taken from him, he finds another. What he seeks is Salvation, but what he gets is more then he could ever dream of.
Shae has to convince Aleta that he sees her as more, before it is to late. Who could say no to a gorgeous Fae with the dreamy green eyes, dark soft hair.

Aleta lost everything that mattered to her, her family. After the death of her grandfather, her last family member, Aleta found an old trunk that was left to her. Soon she would find out it was a part of her fate as well.

Will she except what was bargained for between her grandfather and the Fae? Or will she fight it to the end?

Soon after Shae and Aleta find themselves facing the devil himself, Lucifer. Lucifer will never turn free what belonged to him. Once the angels fell, they were Fae, in turn they were his.

Will Shae and Aleta survive Lucifer's raft? Will Aleta set her mind free and accept Shae for what he really is? Battling the dark side does something to a gal, so in the end if she loves him she do what ever it takes to save her Fae.

The Fallen Fae was true fantasy at it's best. I want to know if the story will continue? What will happen to Daray?

Connie Wood captures the heart of this genre in this book. She pulls the reader into the story from the first to the last page.

Jake Johnsrud, a virtual stranger, risks his life to save Annie’s. They are among the survivors who are sentenced to slavery on the Moon for their “crimes.”

My Review: Annie Peterson, Admin. assistant at an accounting firm, was quite stunning at the age of 28 with blond hair and soulful blue eyes. She was married to Paul and had a son and they lived a wonderful life until the world changed. Now they fight for their freedom. They attended a rally against Freezeland and after that day their lives will never be the same.

Jake Johnrud worked in marketing in Chicago. Jake was against anything Freezeland represented. He attended the Rally, but he soon found himself in a mess he could not get out of. He will join the resistance, he will give in, even if it meant his death.

Annie found herself now without a husband and family. Being arrested was always a possibility but seeing Paul's death shook Annie to her core, with the help of a friend she finds her healing. The men and woman were sent to the moon for their sentence. Slaves for Freezeland they mined for him. All being told they were there for 10 years, once they were released it was up to them to pay to return to earth, but they were no fools. What Freezeland did not know in his efforts to to punish all who were against him he created a resistance to take back what the people lost.

Will they be able to return to earth on day? Can Annie open her heart to let Jake in? Will Jake be able to help Annie heal? Will the people of the resistance take back what Freezeland took from them?

Rock Bound is an all around great book. It has great strong characters and a good storyline. If you enjoy Sci Fi this is a book for you. Annie's and Jake's fire starts slow and ends in a blaze.
Rochelle Weber spins an imaginative story. Her strength in her writing is truly amazing.

Jazz Hands by Eric Erato

Jazz Hands by Eric Erato
Eternal Press
Erotic BDSM

Summary: A tall and handsome jazzman is intrigued by the proposal of his elegant female fan: she will do anything he asks, no matter how degrading. As these two musicians mine the depths of their own darkness and sensual brutality, they begin to realize how much their basest needs complement each other. Public sexual displays, dangerous encounters, bizarre bondage, fetish wear, and total submission mark their descent into the depths of passion.

My Review: This Eternal Press release is a true treasure. It made me wish I had a better understanding of jazz and classical music as I read it. I am a confirmed rock n’ roll girl, but Mr. Erato had me thrilled to his fingers on the piano keys. The woman is a classic character, a rich bitch in touch with a submissive nature she can barely control, and the pianist plays her and her body like a the jazzman he is. Dare I confess to touching myself in the piano scene, where our heroine becomes all too intimately in touch with our hero’s piano performance?

Too many of the BDSM books I read a slow and plodding, taking too much time with the character building and the subtle nuisances to the lifestyle and forgetting to move the plot forward. In this case I was amazed that despite the wealth of jazz music information in Jazz Hands, Mr. Erato still managed to keep his plot moving briskly enough to satisfy me.

However it was the street scene which floored me about this book, and I’m purposefully not going to comment too much about this gem. Suffice it to say two people of the backgrounds of these two main characters should not have the street awareness and flat out gravitas to pull this off, but Mr. Erato does, making me a very breathless and aroused fan of his.

My message is: don’t be put off by the title, if you’re not a jazz fan. Read Jazz Hands if you are sensuous, love getting aroused by a book, and like light but intense D/s interplay between a dominant male and a submissive woman.

This reviewer is pleased to give Jazz Hands five Delightful Divas, only my second such award, and I nominate it for a Pick of the Month. Thank you, Mr. Erato.

A Terrible Tryst of Fate by Christopher C. Newman

A Terrible Tryst of Fate by Christopher C. Newman
Publisher: Dark Roast Press
Genre: Erotic Paranormal

Summary:
Amelia Bainbridge is a single, lonely woman who dreams of true love rescuing her from her humdrum existence. What she gets is an assault by a wayward toad demon, G'rrk and she is swiftly rescued by a mysterious, handsome, silver-haired hero named Hunter.

Confused and conflicted by her feelings for him, Amelia ponders who this man might be as he struggles with his own demons…literally. Is this a match made on earth, in heaven or…?

My Review: This is an intriguing story that although based on a tried and true premise features a plucky, convincing heroine and a very captivating hero in Hunter.

Author Christopher C. Newman understands women very well and gives Amelia an inner world that is both amusing and realistic. He also excels at depicting dark forces and provides original and interesting images of demons and hell. Added to the mix is the triangle of sorts with Hunter's on-off lover Erzsébet jealously watching the developments on earth and this makes for some fast-paced, way above average romantic angst.

The sex scenes are many and often, frankly a bit creepy when they involve Erzsébet and demons, but still, this is an interesting book that is anything but typical of the erotic genre.

Without wanting to spoil this for those who haven't read it I hope there are more books planned for Hunter and Amelia, the ending seems to warrant it.

My Review: Angel Gets Her Wings by Kat Duarte is a hot, sexy read from the first sentence till the last period. It has cherubs, humor, Christmas, a naughty and nice list and most of all love.

Kat Duarte
has done a great job bringing all of these pieces together and made a funny, sexy, and often times crazy book that is a definite keeper. She was able to keep my attention from the first line when she introduced me to 2 characters in a very sexy scene that I am sure I will think about and envy whenever I am flying. She quickly proceeds with witty banter between characters and more crazy love scenes. Before I knew it I had finished the book. All of her characters are quirky and funny With people you would find in everyday life.

Ms. Duarte has done an excellent job with this book. It kept me smiling the whole time. I was truly sorry to finish, but at the same time happy to see the outcome of the story. I will definitely keep an eye out for any future releases by Ms. Duarte. That is why I am giving it.

Hot Chocolate On A Cold Day by Dana LittleJohn

Hot Chocolate on a Cold Day by Dana Littlejohn
Publisher: Red Rose Publishing
Genre: Erotic Romance

Summary
: Are you up to Hot Chocolate on a cold day? Lizette Moreno is a stay at home computer tech. Her friends chipped in to send her on a ski weekend for her birthday making her promise to try some new things. While enjoying a hot toddy by the fire she is informed that her sleeping arrangements have been compromised and finds herself in bed with Dante Roberts. Could Lizette muster up enough guts to make Dante the first new "thing" she tries?

My Review: Very good book, quick read, fast paced, I really liked the interaction between main characters, from the moment Lisa sees Dante until the last word.

I do have to say this is one of better erotic scenes that I have had the opportunity to read. It is not the average run of the mill, wham, bam, thank you ma'am scenarios. I liked the way Ms. Littlejohn was able begin the love making, hot and sexy and yet at the same time funny and embarrassing. I really loved how lisa took control. Hot, sexy and totally what I would want if I could get some “Hot Chocolate on a Cold Day!”

Dante and Lisa fit together because they are so wonderfully sweet and yet sexy together. I have to say all and all a satisfying and just all around good read. So I have to give it.

Lust of a Vampire by Belita Renn

Lust of a Vampire by Belita Renn
Publisher: Red Rose Publishing
Genre: Erotic Paranormal

Summary: Can the devil and the angel be one and the same?

Selean was dying from a form of Cancer so she commits suicide. As she is dying, an angel arrives to take her away.

Only this angel turns out to be Raggar Vaul, a vampire that seems inclined to torture her. Then he claimed her as his own since he saved her life. He loves her with an unexpected passion that she is happy to enjoy, still she is his prisoner.

While adjusting to living in his castle, he never warns her therefore she is unprepared for the encounters with an evil that is determined to kill her when it attacks.

Will she survive or will the evil take over all?

My Review: The book Lust of a Vampire by Belita Renn from Red Rose Publishing is worth a read. A nicely written erotic BDSM that flows at a great pace and I enjoyed the interaction between Selean and Raggar. Sexy with light bondage with a touch of mystery and a nice love story as well. The descriptions hit just the right chord with me, enough to get my imagination flowing. Selean’s rebellious nature is effectively betrayed by her desire and pleasure from Raggar. What more could a woman ask for, a gorgeous Vampire, who adores his mate. Masculine and attentive with a very sensual appeal leaving me anxious to continue reading. The woven back story of his wait for Selean to be ready for him only added to his appeal. All the good things are rolled up into Raggar who is a woman’s fantasy. An exciting close with a happily ever after note. It’s a story I would re-read on a lazy afternoon.

Angel’s Delight by J.A. Rawls

Angel's Delight by J.A. Rawls
Publisher: RomanceDivine
Genre: Erotic Romance

Summary:
In this story, Angel has moved to a new town and started a new job with a construction company. She’s hoping a change of location will help her rid of herself of her pesky virginity. She quickly finds herself over her head with her two sexy bosses, Steve and Scott, who are half brothers. What is she going to do when one of the brothers decides he wants her for keeps?

My Review: Ms. Rawls has written a very sensual tale of a woman exploring her horizons. The internal struggle Angel has after her first experience was well written and I could feel her confusion. The only issue I found with this story was a minor error in the details. Ms. Rawls refers to Scott and Steve as step brothers. I come from a blended family myself and in reality they are half brothers. (Same father, different mothers.) If you’re looking for a sweet and sexy story, this is definitely a keeper. I give Angel’s Delight Four Delightful Divas!
