Excerpt of Searching for the Perfect Mate by Trinity Blacio:

Remi LeBlathe walked through the crowed street. He spotted two people in an intimate conversation at a bistro style table. Why couldn't he find someone? Not that he had a problem getting laid-hell, women lined up to get a chance with him because of his size. Along with this advantage came the nicknames, "Mammoth the Beast" being the most recent one. Ever since he killed that drug lord who had trespassed on his land, the name had spread throughout his pack.

From best friends who find romance to time travel to a bit of Christmas magic, step into the realm of hearts on fire and love everlasting.

Excerpt of Tuesday's Affair by Trinity Blacio:

Tuesday glanced in her rearview mirror into the backseat. Her son, Jared, played with his toy car in his safety seat. Doubts lingered in her mind about staying the weekend with her ex-husband’s sister, Pam. The thought of being in the same room with Ike sent shivers up her spine. One year, four months, and six days ago he’d left her pregnant with his child. He’d denied the baby and had abandoned her. Not even the paternity tests and pictures of their son seemed to help change Ike’s mind.

Weekend Showcase: Raina James

Raina James in the Spotlight:

My dad's career as a pilot in the Canadian military took us across the country while I was growing up, eventually landing me in a small town near Ottawa, the capital of Canada. A love of words and writing spurred me to pursue a career in journalism. So, that's what I've been doing for close to 20 years in my day job – night job, actually, since being a senior editor at a daily newspaper means I don't work a traditional 9-to-5 job.

As an author, I write in a wide variety of genres, from contemporary and science fiction to fantasy (urban and traditional) and paranormal. The thread that binds them all together, though, is romance. I just love a happy ending, even if the hero and heroine have to leap through fire to get there.

When I'm not writing, I'm generally riding herd on my four kids, two girls and two boys.

Autumn reviewed The Family Jewel. Read her review here.

The Family Jewel by Raina James
Publisher: Siren-Bookstrand, Inc.
Genre: Erotic, Sci-fi

Summary: On Kalaria, native-born women are a rarity, and Kalaria's Council of Elders is ever-vigilant that only the best and the strongest clans qualify for a precious Jewel.

Jerran, Loran, Mikah and Kai -- leader, healer, trader and warrior -- have worked long and hard to win a Jewel, despite Jerran's "taint" of off-world heritage. Beautiful and seductive, trained from girlhood to be all things to her mates, Shantay is everything half-brothers Jerran and Kai and lovers Mikah and Loran desired.

But jealousy and greed are universal. Because of the machinations of a vindictive courtesan, Shantay is ripped away from her mates by a slaver eager to cash in on the value of a rare and priceless Kalari Jewel, rumored to be the ultimate sex slave.

Her men will follow her into space itself to reclaim The Family Jewel.

"Chuckling to myself, I was considering all the euphemisms for a man's, ahem, family jewels when I started thinking about a heroine called a Family Jewel, and imagining a world where women are rare treasures. She would have a "he-rem" of men and be the perfect mate each man -- or, in the case of Loran and Mikah, each couple -- needs." ~ Raina ~

Excerpt:

Jerran and his clan brothers watched through the intricately worked lattice as the woman entered the bathing chamber. Her back to them, she crossed the room to the sunken pool of steaming water with a gently swinging stride. She wore a simple white robe, secured at her slender waist with a braided cord of blue silk. The white seemed brilliant against the golden honey of her skin. Thick black hair spilled in loose waves from a topknot on the crown of her head, revealing the curve of a delicate jaw and slender neck. She unfastened the robe and turned to place it on a bench that held a number of plush folded towels. Jerran swallowed as he saw her face for the first time. He didn't know what his clan brothers--Loran, Mikah and Kai, who was also his half-brother by blood--felt, but possessiveness and pride seized him. She was a beauty.

In truth, her attractiveness hadn't really been in doubt. Kalari women were renowned for their beauty, after all. But this woman, Shantay, would be the Jewel of Black Moon Clan. That made her beauty unmatched in his eyes.

Jerran clenched his hands at his sides in an effort to quell his rising excitement, glad of the relative privacy offered by the small, dimly lit viewing chamber. His cock was hard as polished starstone in his trousers.

Shantay, her body dainty except for the round fullness of her breasts and feminine curve of her hips, tucked a few loose tendrils of hair into the jewelled band that secured it. Unhurried, she walked to the pool and started down the steps. Ankles, calves, knees, thighs--the water enveloped that golden skin until her hips were submerged. She began to scoop handfuls of hot water over her arms and shoulders, smoothing the glistening drops of liquid over breasts tipped with copper-pink crests.

Twisting slightly, she shifted a tray of bath stuffs along the edge of the pool. She scooped a handful of soft soap from one jar and began to lather her upper body with exquisite slowness. Streamers of white foamy bubbles slid over her shoulders and down her arms. Another handful of soap added to the tantalizing trail that wound its way over and between her breasts. Slender fingers plucked at hardening nipples that peaked rosily through the bubbles. Not once did she turn away from the lattice that concealed the four men.

A suspicion began to form in his mind.

When the elders offered Jerran and his clan brothers a chance to see their Jewel before the joining ceremony, he had accepted for them all with alacrity. It hadn't occurred to him they'd be granted such an intimate preview, though. At first, the thought of spying on an unsuspecting young woman in such a private moment had been a bit off-putting, if exciting. He didn't want to dishonor their Jewel, even if she never learned of this hidden visitation.

However, something in Shantay's sensual bath made him think she wasn't as unaware as he'd feared.

She was displaying herself for them.

As if in confirmation of his conclusion, Shantay rinsed the suds away with more handfuls of water, her motions languid, seductive. Taking a couple of steps out of the pool, she balanced one small foot on the top step and began to lather the exposed leg from hip to heel. When she ran soap-covered fingers through the dark curls between her thighs, Kai exhaled on a soft curse. Jerran shot the younger man a silencing look. If they were all to pretend that Shantay bathed alone, so be it.

Their Jewel took her time with the rest of her bath, then towelled off with equal care before donning her discarded robe and leaving the bathing chamber. For long moments, no one said anything.

Kai finally broke the silence. "Brother, when you asked me to leave my mother's house to start a clan with you, I never doubted you would make Black Moon a great family. But this Jewel, my brother." He grinned and clapped Jerran on the shoulder. "I have a feeling she will be your greatest accomplishment."

Loran, usually the quickest with a smile, turned away from his thoughtful contemplation of the now-empty bathing chamber. "You know, Kai, I think you're right. There's something about Shantay that tells me she is the piece we didn't know we were missing. Mikah?"

Jerran watched this quietest of his three clan brothers closely. Loran's lover and Black Moon's master trader, Mikah had said the right things when informed the Elders had granted them a Jewel. Yet, despite his quick mind and glib tongue when it came to making the most advantageous bargain for the clan, Mikah was a self-contained man wary of change. It would take a far less perceptive leader than Jerran to realize he had reservations about the biggest change of their lives. Jerran knew those reservations wouldn't stop Mikah from accepting Shantay for the boon she was to their clan. His estimation was proven when Mikah dipped his head in a single nod and said simply, "She is truly a Jewel of Kalari womanhood."

"True," Jerran said. "But that is't the most important thing about her."

"No?" Kai asked.

"No." He walked to the hidden room's door and pulled it open. "The most important thing is that tonight, Shantay will belong completely to Black Moon. She will be all ours."

Extreme Bull by Catt Ford

Extreme Bull by Catt Ford
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Genre: Erotic, GLBT, M/M

Review Copy Received from Publisher

Summary: Inside and outside the rodeo arena, Jeff Stratton and Clay Harris are rivals with tempers worse than the bulls they ride. So Clay is shocked when Jeff taps that wild energy and kisses him, sparking an undeniable urge for more of each others' bodies.

But when they discover they might want more than casual sex between competitions, Clay's greatest fear is recognized: He is scared of being identified as gay. He'll have to cowboy up if he hopes to hang on to Jeff on the circuit of love.

Kathy’s Review: I liked Catt Ford’s rodeo cowboy story; I didn’t know that it was related to another of her books, but I can tell you that I’ve already added Riding Out the Bull to my gotta-get list. And even though it’s connected, rather obliquely, Extreme Bull stands alone very well. Both men were appealing, but I have to admit that Clay Harris stole my heart; there is just something about him that clicked. I really enjoyed the banter between the two men; it reminded me of the young boy who shows the little girl, by pulling her hair or hitting her, that he likes her. Guess it doesn’t matter sometimes just how old the boy is.

I found the glimpses into the life of a bull rider, that Catt Ford gave us, quite fascinating, in a train-wreck sort of way. All I can say is, I was extremely glad to be on the reader’s side of the pages! Reading Extreme Bull cemented my opinion that bull riders have got to be some of the craziest people on the rodeo circuit, bar none.

Watching as Jeff and Clay tried to figure out just what was happening between them was, at times, humorous while, at other times, I could feel their confusion and uncertainty. For two men who had never thought of themselves as anything but ladies’ men, finding another man attractive had to have been extremely disconcerting, to say the least. But Ms. Ford made their relationship work, mostly because, for both Clay and Jeff, it wasn’t so much about sexual orientation as the fact that they had an attraction to each other that superseded gender.

Extreme Bull was sometimes light-hearted, often serious, but always kept me involved with Clay and Jeff. Watching as their relationship developed and as they changed and became surer of themselves and each other was a joy. Catt Ford has just earned another fan!

For the Love of Hattie by Pat Dale

For the Love of Hattie by Pat Dale
Publisher: Red Rose Publishing
Genre: Contemporary, Comedy

Review Copy Received from Publisher

Summary: For ten years, Hattie McCall has turned a deaf ear on her dad's sage advice. And for all those years she's found herself in a self-imposed prison. Unwilling to admit the mistake that cost her the love of her life, she's cloistered herself in her teaching. Now, her dad has died and she must return home to run the family store. Which means she has to face Brad Trimble, the young man she'd spurned all those years before. The man she still longs for in the heart she can't hear.

Jordan’s Review: Though For the Love of Hattie is full of the clichéd misunderstandings and the ‘if s/he would only listen’ scenarios, I still found it to be a pleasant read. The heroine has quite a temper which I found a little off-putting at first; however, as she settled down, I became more interested in her. The hero has his own temper and while it was at times a bit over the top, he was still likeable.

I believe the story could have been tightened up, cut back if you will, and it would have been a better book. I will, however, look for more books by this Pat Dale. She does supply a good read when escapism is what you’re looking for.

The Sarran Plague by A.C. Katt

The Sarran Plague by A.C. Katt
Publisher: Eternal Press
Genre: Erotic, Sci-Fi, Ménage, M/F/M

Review Copy Received from Publisher

Summary: "Even now in your flush of victory, we have sown the seeds of your defeat." Hanitz, Commander Zyptz Warrior Birds –Message to Brightstar

The Sarran Warriors came home from victory to genocide. The enemy had unleashed a virus fatal to all fertile fems on the Home Planet. The Sarrans mated in Triad, without fems, civilization ended. For two cycles they searched the Galaxy for a genetically compatible vessel. They found Earth. The WarriorPairs left Sarran with heavy hearts. They were told the Earthen fems were an inferior species, unable to establish the psychic bond that was essential to the triad bond.

Yet from as far out as the asteroid belt, fem voices called to the mates. They were in pain, they were dying, they had met the enemy. Admirals Jonal and Tonas were determined to obtain their fem at almost any cost; because they had already mated in her mind.

Dakota’s Review: I absolutely love erotic science fiction and A. C. Katt has delivered it in spades with The Sarran Plague. What can I say about Jonal and Tonas? They are both hot and uber sexy. I love the depth of their characters and the deep relationship they have together aside from their developing relationship with their human mate. What can be sexier than two men who truly care about one another and are the perfect balance for each other?

Anya, their human mate, is everything I was hoping she would be. She’s feisty, strong willed and more than willing to stand up to her two very dominant mates. I applaud Ms. Katt for making such a strong but adaptable character. The trials and tribulations that Anya faces to stay with her mates and foil the evil plot that’s afoot, had this reviewer turning the pages as fast as she could click on the next arrow.

In conclusion, if you love a fast paced science fiction/fantasy story with a hot ménage or two thrown in, The Sarran Plague is definitely for you. Personally, I am waiting anxiously to see if Ms. Katt will provide us with another wonderful story in this exciting and dangerous world she has created. I give The Sarran Plague Five Delightful Divas and My Top Pick for the month of November!

Reckless Exposure by Anne Rainey

Reckless Exposure by Anne Rainey
Publisher: Red Sage Publishing
Genre: Erotic, Ménage, M/F/M

Review Copy Received from Author

Summary: Where in time is Trey? This month, the time-strider finds himself in contemporary Manhattan. His targets are fashion photographer Rand Miller and model Lucy Flemming.

Innocent, lovely, and trusting, Lucy gives herself to Rand in every way possible. She is more than his model. She is his muse.

But will Rand be more than her lover? Or will the secrets he left buried in his past keep him from loving Lucy as she deserves to be loved?

When Rand realizes Lucy must move out of not only his apartment but also his life, he decides to give her the going away party of a lifetime. The list of party goodies includes massage oil, margaritas, and their mysterious neighbor Trey.

But Trey has a mission to fulfill. This cannot be Lucy and Rand's last night together. Trey must turn this ending into a new beginning. For all of them.

Melissa’s Review: Reckless Exposure by Anne Rainey is part of the multi-author Three Kinds of Wicked Series. This series involves Trey, a time strider, who sets out to assist meant-to-be couples save their relationships. Trey is a delicious character; a mix of hot alpha male, and sweet, loving man. Anne Rainey did an excellent job with his character, keeping his personality in line with the other books.

Lucy is such a sweet girl. She is a contradiction within herself: successful, sexy model and sweet, naive, small-town girl. I just loved the combination that made Lucy. You never knew if she was going to be the sweet little girl, or the feisty vixen. While Lucy was strong enough to stand her ground, she was also willing to give Rand time to deal with his painful past.

As much as I loved Trey and Lucy, Rand was my pick of this trio. His past is typical of a bad boy, but he has prevailed over his past and become a successful, kind, and caring man. He is still holding onto just a little bit too much of his past, and I felt for him during his struggle to let go of the pain so that he could hold onto Lucy. He was as awe aspiring with his emotions as he was with his possessive, hot, alpha attitude.

This is the first Anne Rainey book that I have read. She writes with a smooth flow and captivating voice. I enjoyed her work and would happily read more of her titles.

One note for anyone interested in reading the Three Kinds of Wicked Series: while all books are written as stand-alone titles and can be read in any order, it is recommended that you read the first book, Wicked Temptation by Liane Gentry Skye, first. I have read it and a few of the other books, and I will verify that it is best to read Liane’s book first, as it gives insight into why Trey does what he does in the other books.

Good Morning and welcome to Feature Friday at Dark Diva Reviews. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. Ours was fantastic, as usual, and now I am looking forward to a long weekend of rest and relaxation.

My guest today is Elizabeth Black, and she is sharing with us today her book The Haunting of the Sandpiper Inn. Ms. Black was kind enough to provide DDR with a review copy of her book, and Autumn had the pleasure of reviewing it.

The Haunting of the Sandpiper Inn by Elizabeth Black
Publisher: Whiskey Creek Press
Genre: Erotic Paranormal

Summary: While psychic Martha Ellis McKay may have the Gift, a skeptic’s heart beats in her breast. She has seen her share of fakes, and she does not take kindly to them. Even worse is when she is accused of being one. So imagine her chagrin when she expects to spend a quiet weekend at the Sandpiper Inn working on a book about haunted houses only to meet a ghost hunting team with its own skeptic, who greets Ellis with a jaundiced eye.

She has met her match in both getting to the bottom of the haunting of the Sandpiper Inn and proving to skeptic John “Beck” Becker that she is the real deal. The problem is that Beck and Ellis have more serious worries. The Sandpiper Inn holds a dark secret that threatens to destroy them both. What awaits them as they delve into the history of the Sandpiper Inn? And will their investigations bring them closer together or drive them further apart?

Excerpt:

He turned on the recorder and leaned forward, his lips brushing against Ellis’s hair. Her entire body felt alert, as if she would jump at his mere touch. When his tongue found her earlobe, she gasped with excitement. He held the recorder about a foot in front of him.

“Are there any spirits in this room who would like to speak to us?”

They paused and looked at each other. Ellis shrugged her shoulders.

“Please tell us your name. Are you Lealand Chase?” Beck said.

Ellis waited for the familiar pinch on her butt, but none came, to her relief.

“I doubt Lealand Chase is here now.”

“How can you be sure?”

“He hasn’t pinched me or sucked on my earlobe. The man is a pest.”

“Then let’s lure him out.” Ellis melted into Beck’s embrace when his hand reached around to squeeze her breast. So, he felt playful? She liked that. She leaned against his body, wanting to feel his hands traveling over her breasts, her stomach, her hips. His lips felt warm and moist as they brushed against her throat. Was Lealand Chase the jealous type, or would he sit in the back of the room and watch? The idea of being spied on by a randy ghost made her cream her panties. She wanted Beck to ravish her again right here in his room. Fooling around sounded like fun. She could giggle in his ear as he played with her nipples. The hair on her arms stood on end. Being with Beck made her feel like a teenager all over again. Having sex and having fun was just the thing to cheer both of them up.

“Lealand Chase, you lecherous old fool, this is your chance,” Beck said. He chewed on her earlobe, reducing her to giggles. He held the recorder ahead of them. “If you are here, watching us do the nasty, make yourself known.”

Ellis half expected Lealand Chase to smack Beck upside the head, since she was certain he was the jealous type. She doubted he would have liked it if his wife had cheated on him as much as he had cheated on her. She liked the idea of making Chase jealous.

Beck slipped one hand beneath her bra and cupped her left breast. Her hard nipple pressed against his palm, hungry for his touch. She wanted to feel his warm, moist lips against her nipples again. She shifted her legs where she stood, feeling the heat rise in her pussy. Did they have time before GHOST came to his room, wondering where they were?

“Lealand, are you watching us?” Ellis asked, gasping for air as Beck massaged her breast. She wanted to feel his fingers on her pussy, pressing and rubbing her swollen clit until she cried out in ecstasy. As quickly as she could, she unzipped her jeans and sent them falling to the floor. Without needing to be asked, Beck’s hand moved from her breast, down her belly, and into her black lace panties. She was so wet she knew she’d leave a trail.

“Wow, you’re still as wet as ever,” Beck said. Ellis was so occupied enjoying his dancing fingers that she didn’t immediately reply.

“I take it I was right?” Beck’s fingers continued their dance over her clit.

“Of course I’m wet. Are you kidding?” she called out. Hoping the ghosts in the inn would hear her fevered pitch. “So, Lealand, do you want some of this?”

Ellis moaned, feeling very content. She felt his hard dick against her thigh as it pressed against her warm skin. She placed her hand over his hand holding the recorder, and looked about the room. Her knees shook as his fingers worked her clit. Despite the sexual tension in the room, she did not detect Lealand Chase, which surprised her since she knew he would get off on being teased like this. Was he watching her, quietly and invisible, jerking off as Beck played with her pussy? The idea he sat aroused as he watched her made her cream her panties even more.

“C’mon, Lealand, you’re loving this, “ she said, barely able to hitch in enough breath she was so aroused. “This is your big chance to get off. Are you watching?”

“Are you a voyeur? I understand you like to watch women undress. Want to see Ellis naked?”

“He already has.”

Beck pulled away from her and looked at her with the most bemused expression. His fingers had stopped moving, so she tapped him on the back of his hand. He laughed and let his fingers play a bit more. She couldn’t help but smile, since she knew she had him exactly where she wanted him. Two men fighting over her. It didn’t get much better than that.

“So Lealand Chase has seen your delicious body before I had?”

“Not by my choice. He didn’t show himself. Plus, he sulks. When I won’t let him see me naked, he won’t talk to me.”

Beck laughed. “He sounds like a character. At least he has good taste in women. Have his fingers been where mine are now?”

“No.”

“You’re kidding! Well, I’ll have to do one better than him.”

She pressed her clit against his fast-moving fingers and leaned into his hand. She was right at the verge of orgasm, and she wanted to spurt her juices all over him. Any second now, and she would burst.

“Does this feel good?”

“Are you kidding?” She kissed him and flicked her tongue over his lips. “I want you. I’m going to come in a minute, you keep fingering me the way you do.”

He slid his tongue into her mouth in response. Blood pulsed in her head. She took in as much breath as she could as her arousal overtook her reason. As long as GHOST didn’t walk in on them, she was happy.

“Maybe we should go to your room, since that’s where you’ve run into him.”

“You’re doing just fine.” She gasped and her body stiffened. “Oh God, Beck, I’m coming!” She rode the crest of the wave of her orgasm as Beck flicked his talented fingers over her throbbing clit. His fingers slipped inside of her and found her G-spot. Ellis threw her head back, taking in as much air as she could as her orgasm intensified.

Without warning, a large framed painting of a seascape on the wall next to the window crashed to the floor. Ellis squealed and jumped, losing her balance and nearly falling on the floor. Startled by the loud crash of the painting, she was overcome by laughter, and Beck was beside himself with the giggles.

“Looks like Lealand Ward heard you after all, Ellis.” Beck replaced the painting on the wall. Luckily, neither the painting nor the frame was damaged.

Autumn’s Review: Over all, The Haunting of the Sandpiper Inn was an interesting read. Elizabeth Black certainly did her homework when it comes to the paranormal aspect.

I enjoyed how she kept her facts straight when it came to the ghost hunting. The big problem with this story, for me anyway, was that I could see where it was going. I felt like yelling at the main characters. On the other hand, the relationship aspect of the story kept me reading. I wanted to know if and how Ellis would change Beck's way of thinking. Would these two be able to get together in the end? Also, I had to know if I was right, if what I thought happened actually did or would there be some maniacal twist at the end.

Ms. Black writes a great read, with interesting and humorous characters; my favorite character being one of the inn’s ghosts.

Summary: William Braddock has built a life for himself with a nice humble house in San Francisco, two jobs he can easily juggle with a pleasant hobby as well. But his peace crashes and burns into a steamy sequence of orgasms as his roommate Cassandra Bynes returns from a three week trip with the reinvented personality of a Playboy Bunny. Soon William gets sucked into her new life of careless sex and finds himself working as an elite prostitute in a multi-million dollar mansion, where his life and sexual views are rotated 180 degrees.

What happens in this house of satin sheets? Only you can find out.

Dakota’s Review: House of Satin Sheets, Nights of Passion was a book I took a chance on. I honestly grabbed it and didn’t even read the blurb on it. And what can I say… I wasn’t disappointed. It reaffirms the idea that sometimes, with reading, you have to take a chance; you may just find a winner in the most unexpected of places.

Patrick Greenwood has perfectly captured many of aspects of being raised a Catholic in modern times where sexuality is much more open than it has been in the past. Even as I found the scenes in which William goes from being uptight about his sexuality to actively embracing it arousing, it was the mental working of his character that kept me reading and hoping against hope that he could adjust to his own desires.

Quite honestly, I didn’t care for his roommate Cassandra at first. Her lack of concern about their financial situation hit a raw nerve for me and that, more than likely, has to do with my Midwestern upbringing; however, as the story progressed, I did warm to her character and found by the end that, while she wasn’t totally likable, I could emphasis with her.

This is not a long read but it perfectly captures a man’s struggle and I have to give Mr. Greenwood kudos for writing such an emotionally moving story. I give House of Satin Sheets, Nights of Passion Four Delightful Divas.

Autumn’s Review: At first I was a little confused by The Family Jewel, but as the story unfolded I was pulled in and intrigued by this world Ms. James created. I wanted to know more about the world and characters. The way Ms. James writes this book it has a little bit of everything; however, I wouldn't say this book is for everybody.

Jerran is your total alpha-male and Kai is the strong, yet sensitive, warrior; then you have the lovers, Loran and Mikah. Mikah, who hesitant and unsure where his place will be, and Loran who’s sure he'll be able to bring his lover around to dealing with having a Jewel. Shantay, their Jewel, is a beautiful sexy woman who knows how to treat her men.

The plot is wonderful as well. You get to know the characters and then see what they’re going through; the ups and downs are great. With a fantastic ending you will just have to read to believe.

Yet the power of their triple passion is threatened by secrets they each carry...secrets their love, the dojo, and even they themselves may not be able to survive.

"I took some karate, and while I have serious respect for the art, I couldn't help but notice its potent, sensual nature. Flexing, glistening muscles are hard to resist! I wondered "what if" a rocked, flexible martial arts master took a lover right in his studio. Where one master is good, two are better... so KATA SUTRA was born." ~ J. Rose ~

A Siren Erotic Romance

Dakota’s Review: As a young preteen, I grew up with the famous, or infamous if you’d like, The Karate Kid movies, Bruce Lee and other martial artists, so when I saw this book, I just had to read it. I’ve always been fascinated by the martial arts and pretty much anything from the Far East.

Ms. Allister has created a sizzling and action packed story with Kata Sutra. (Whenever I see this title, I can’t help but smile, the pure genius to put together a karate term and an erotic term just tickles my fancy.) In this story, east meets west and for once the West is more experienced. Having Evan as the teacher and Makoto or “Mak” as the assistant was a switch but in the end Desiree gets the best of both worlds when she takes on both men as she learns martial arts. Without giving the plot away, I have to say the pure aggressiveness between Mak and Evan is sizzling hot and in the end Desiree is the one who ends up profiting from all that male testosterone.

I do have to give Ms. Allister kudos for expertly navigating the turns and twists of this story and drawing this reviewer into the wonderful, but complex, world of Dakota’s Dojo. In the end I cried, laughed, and rooted for these characters. All in all, this is one kick “ass” book, pardon my French. :D I give Kata Sutra Five Delightful Divas and a Recommended Read!

Three Alarm Tenant by Charlotte McClain

Summary: Katherine lost one hero in the line of duty -- can she risk loving another?

Katherine Pelham's fiancé was a police officer, shot and killed during a robbery. Left with a house she can't afford, she must rent out the first floor to solve her money woes. Before she can finish putting up the For Rent sign, along comes a man who seems interested in more than just the apartment.

Fireman Jack Connelly is in a bind: he's rescued a dog, and his lease doesn't allow pets. The new apartment would be great. The new landlady, even better...

Jordan’s Review: I thoroughly enjoyed Three Alarm Tenant. Charlotte McClain has penned a winner. The characters are real and I felt great empathy for the heroine. I could feel her fear and knew how desperately she wanted to keep herself safe. Jack was everything a hero should be; strong and gentle, considerate and kind, while still being an Alpha male. The storyline progressed at a good pace. The problem between the couple was such that I wasn’t sure how the author would fix it, but she does and we get a very lovely epilogue to complete the story.

Three Alarm Tenant lives up to every expectation I had for the story. It’s a great book and I look forward to reading more from this author.
