Summary: Ashley Bennett is a physical therapist burnt out from the job because of all of the rich, spoiled patients she has had to put up with. She moves back to San Angelo, TX to be closer to her family and friends. She has made enough money to live comfortably for a little while until she decides what she wants to do. Unfortunately things don’t go as she planned. Upon stopping by the hospital where she started out in physical therapy, she runs into her old mentor. While there, her help is enlisted for a patient who needs her expertise. When she finds out the new patient is Christopher Morgan, her world is sent into a tailspin. She and Chris have a history. They have been friends since the age of five, and she had kept a secret from him. It is a secret that could rock the foundation of their friendship. She is in love with him.
Christopher Morgan feels like he is having the worst luck in the world lately. His mother is an awful meddlesome matchmaker distracting him from being able to find the woman of his dreams on his own. It only gets worse when his horse training session goes awry and he ends up in the hospital. To top it all off he is told his new physical therapist is Ashley Bennett, his childhood friend and the woman he has secretly been in love with for years. He had no idea she was back in town, but now that he does he doesn't plan to let her go.
Deb’s Review: Cutting to the Chase was one emotional, heart warming story that had this reviewer sighing with joy. This is a remarkable story about never giving up and being willing to try something new. Stephanie Morris did a brilliant job writing this book and educating us on an unknown illness.
Ashley is such a delightful heroine. I can see her staring at Chris with her hands on her hips. *grins* Her strength and love for Chris had me rooting for them since they first reconnected. I so admire an intelligent lady who is not a push over. Ashley has enough backbone to deal with anything.
Chris is truly a hot cowboy, straight down to his cowboy boots. He was dealt a serious blow in his life. I have to say that Ms. Morris made this hero one worth remembering. Just thinking about this book makes tears spring to my eyes.
I have to applaud Stephanie Morris for her portrayal of the illness in this book. It was an eye opener. She made it easier to understand, which kept me in tune with the story. It did not take away from the heart of the book.
As the other characters go, there was an amazing list. I adored them all! Once you read this book you will see why. They added a nice background to the story, but left the spotlight on Ashley and Chris.
If you are looking for a well-rounded family-feeling love story with unspeakable passion then Cutting to the Chase is a story you need to add to your collection. Stephanie Morris, is a true honor to discover. Anyone who has not read this book, please do.
