Jae’s Review: Dakota Ranch Crude by Leah Brooke is the second book in the Dakota Heat series. These are all stand-alone stories, tied together by a common theme; Dakota men and hot ménages. In this story, we meet Samantha who finds herself, due to a bizarre chain of events, entangled with owners of the Dakota Ranch, Shayne and Jackson. While these two are brothers, their personalities couldn’t be more different.

Dakota Ranch Crude is a fast-paced story that takes hold of you right in the beginning and doesn’t let up until the conclusion. I liked that Samantha was coming into the situation with no prior experience; with the ménage aspect certainly, but I was thinking more about her lack of experience with ranch life. I enjoyed learning about the ranch, and ranch men, from her perspective.

The intrigue portion of the story was wholly unexpected from the blurb that I read and it was a very nice addition to the story. It added that little bit more of the impetus needed to get these characters to their excellent conclusion.

I have the third book in the Dakota Heat series ready to read, and you can be assured that I’ll start that one right away. I can’t wait to see where Leah Brooke will take us next.
