Summary: Has Randall McAllister gone to the dogs?
Once again, his witchy teenage sisters screwed up a spell at his expense, leaving him a black Scottie. Doing what comes naturally to dogs, he collides with the car of the town veterinarian. Living with the compassionate Amanda Livingston, he discovers the love of his dreams.
Will he spend his life as a lap dog to the woman he knows is his soul mate, or will he be able to break the dog spell?
Kathy’s Review: I chuckled my way through this most delightful tale by Lizzie T. Leaf. Dogspell is a cute, humorous story with a touch of mischief, provided by Rand’s teenage witch sisters, and a romance between the vet and the Scottie. Then there’s the family familiar, Simma: the cast alone is enough to keep any reader hooked on the story.
Rand’s 15-year-old twin sisters, Charisma and Charmela ~ Riz and Mel for short ~ are affectionately known by him as the Demon Duo. They’re powerful witches who have the need to experiment. What’s the saying? When the cat’s away, the mice will play? In this case the cat is no help whatsoever keeping the girls in check and Rand is the one who pays the price. Poor Rand, once he realized just what it was that befell him! Of course it didn’t help that he let his inner canine take over... but it led to him meeting, rather unpleasantly, the soon-to-be love of his life.
Lizzie T. Leaf’s recitation of Rand’s adventures as he came to terms with being a dog were fun and, for Rand, frustrating. Getting to know Amanda as she bravely attempted to find someone was sometimes painful... she really did have the worst luck with men! At least until a wee Scottie came into her life. But even then, how the heck are Rand and Amanda going to get together?
For that you’re going to have to pick up Ms. Leaf’s Dogspell and find out for yourself. Just be aware that this is like no other magical tale of romance you’ve read and be prepared to laugh your way through this most ‘enchanting’ tale. As for me? I’m off to find more stories by this wonderful author.
