Summary:
Jarek, a young cougar shifter, arrives at Refuge full of hope. He is finally in a place where he can have a lover and his first-ever home. Meeting Mica feels like icing on the cake, but his dreams are quickly shattered by a night of pain and violence at the hands of his Alpha.
Mica, a stone man, is trying to get his emotions under control. He likes Jarek, but isn't sure what to do with the overwhelming lust he feels whenever Jarek is near. After the two of them are caught in a compromising position, Jarek goes missing, and Mica will do anything in his power to track him down.
Suni, the true-blue Alpha of the cougars, doesn't want anything to do with the rest of his kind. He is perfectly content to live out his life in seclusion. When he stumbles across a young cougar shifter near death, he realizes he's found his mate. When Jarek regains consciousness and tells Suni about Mica, the true Alpha is left wondering where he'll fit in.
Three men, one who wants to feel, one who doesn't know how to feel, and one who refuses to feel, come together on the side of a mountain. The resulting clash of personalities and sexually charged energy will change their lives forever.

Jaime’s Review:
Carol Lynne has delved deeper into the harder plots I enjoy with this book. The cougar shifter, Jarek, has had a hard time of it, and now that he should be able to enjoy life, make friends and at long last, find the lover and home he's dreamed of, he finds himself under some very unfriendly scrutiny, indeed. Now, he's in danger from one of his own kind, and the gentle shifter has no idea what to do about it. Where he should be finding joy, he is finding only heartache.

Jarek's emotional and physical trial in this story really makes the reader connect to the character and want him to beat the odds set up against him. He's vulnerable, but not weak, innocent, or stupid, and his redeeming feature, and also the trait that gets him into the most trouble, is his deep concern for the ones he loves.

His partners are strong and capable men, as well, but not without their own flaws. Every one of them is loveable in his own right. As a family, the three of them make a wonderful combination, or you hope they will, if they manage to survive the difficulties facing them, and for once, that isn't as obvious an outcome as you might like.

I liked the more complex plot and deeper characters in this story. It was interesting, but not too convoluted for the word count, once again proving Ms. Lynne knows what she's doing. Even the antagonists are not simple, easy to hate men, but damaged, complex characters you can only feel for, even if you don't like what they do.

My recommendation: definitely worth the time to read. This series just gets better and better.

Rated 4 1/2 Delightful Divas by Jaime!
