Review Copy Received from PublisherSummary:
The bodyguards of Black Dog Four had been carefully chosen for looks, temperament, battle skills and sexuality. In the tradition of the Spartans, the idea was to see if lovers worked better as a team than merely friends. The experiment had seemed like a complete success until they'd been sent to guard Maria Valdez. After Maria was killed in an explosion, all four men had refused to work together.
Addy Constentine needed around-the-clock security if she hoped to legitimise her father's empire. With her stepbrother now in prison, Addy's goal was to keep the family out of the underworld it had been entrenched in for decades.
With death threats coming from several different sources, Addy needed the best. She needed the men of Black Dog Four.
Donna’s Review:
Taming Black Dog Four is a great story. The plot is complex with interrelated themes. The characters are genuine and their relationships realistic. They come across as real people with talents, goals, history and issues.
Historically there is an interesting precedence for putting lovers together as a unit in military situations. Three Partners Protection has tried it previously with Black Dog Four and it worked well, right up to the point that a rocket launched grenade took the life of the person they were guarding. Black Dog Four split up. Now they have been pulled
back together by TPP to guard Addy, the difference this time is that they are coming into the job as individuals, not lovers. Jack, Lobo, Carlo and Renaldo haven’t spent time together since the tragedy. With these amazingly wonderful men so needy for one another, the reader can’t help but hope they find a way to get back together before the story comes to an end.Addy, Joe, Alec, Lon and Taggert are very strong supporting characters. When something awful happens in this story, I kept thinking that it simply couldn’t be true, that it must be a lie to confuse anyone watching the men, but it wasn’t. The part the CIA plays in the on-going story of the Bodyguards in Love series is very interesting. With the scheming of the CIA weaving in and out of the stories in this series, the CIA becomes another character…a baffling character with questionable motivation.
In terms of sexuality, Taming Black Dog Four has more that sex; it has the depth of love that allows individuals to become family. While the whole book is wonderful, I think you will especially enjoy the epilogue of Taming Black Dog Four. Thank you, Carol Lynne, for another amazing book!
