Welcome Spotlight Author: Amber Skyze!!

Blurb:

Rena is on a quest to get laid and she’s willing to go to any length to fulfill her need.

Marc has a thirst for a submissive. He longs to find someone he can bring to the edge of ecstasy and rein back in before an orgasm. He wants to tie, tease and torture his submissive, pushing the limits of sexual awareness.

When he offers Rena five hundred dollars to be his sub for the night, he gets more than he bargained for. This spitfire is about to show him a thing or two about submitting.

Excerpt:

Chapter One

Rena had one goal in mind—to get laid. Taking a long drag off the straw nestled in her fruity drink, she scanned the smoke-filled bar for a potential mark. Tonight she didn’t care about getting to know someone. No, tonight she only cared about filling the void in her aching pussy.

“Damn,” she cursed under her breath. Tables were full with happy couples, either enjoying drinks or dinner. Soft jazz played in the background. Normally Rena enjoyed the lazy tempo, but not tonight. She was too busy looking for someone to fill her need. Her desire. Rena’s pussy ached to be fucked. Glancing around the haze, she shook her head. Not one guy in the place looked eligible. She considered going to another bar but decided against it. Not many bars offered rooms above them for the clients to rent by the hour. No, this was the place where she intended to find the man to make her pussy sing. Besides, the patrons were upper-class and the bar had a reputation for only allowing in respectable people. Safe. That was the reason she was here and wouldn’t go anyplace else.

Staring into the mirror behind the bar, she gave the room another scan. Still nothing. She couldn’t believe there wasn’t one man desirable enough to give her the relief she craved.

She emptied her drink. Maybe it was best if she called it a night. Obviously she wasn’t getting laid tonight.

As Rena stepped off the barstool, her face came into contact with one broad chest. She glanced up to stare into the most exquisite blue eyes she’d ever seen.

“Leaving so soon?” he asked in a husky voice.

“Just going to powder my nose,” she lied.

“I didn’t think women did that any longer.”

“I’m not just any woman.” Rena winked. “I’m every man’s wish come true.” Leaving him standing there, mouth agape, she headed toward the bathroom.

He ordered her a new drink when she shimmied onto the stool.

“Thanks for the drink.” She didn’t bother to look at him, but she caught him watching her in the mirror.

“My pleasure.”

Rena couldn’t help herself, she smiled.

He was gorgeous, dressed in tight-fitting denims and a painted-on black tee , muscles bulging from under the short sleeves.

“Come here often?” Lame. She hated pickup lines, so why was she using one on him?

He laughed a hearty laugh.

“Actually the first time.”

Hmm. A first timer.

“So what brings you here tonight?”

“I’m looking for a little action.”

“What kind of action?” Maybe the same kind she was looking for? A “wham bam thank you ma’am” kinda night?

“Nothing you’d be interested in, I’m sure.”

“And what makes you so sure I’m not interested in your kind of action?” Insult dripped from her voice.

“Just a gut feeling.”

“Are you saying I’m too prim and proper for you?”

He shrugged indifferently.

“Try me, I’ll bet I surprise you.”

He shook his head no.

Are you fucking serious? He was turning her down? No fucking way. This was not the way she had planned this night. She was determined to get laid and Mister Muscles fit the bill.

“Let me guess, you’re looking to get laid—no strings attached?”

He didn’t flinch when she blurted out the statement.

Instead he stood, reached deep into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash.

“You think you can handle my action?”

He slapped a hundred-dollar bill on the bar.

“I’m offering you one hundred dollars to be my slut for the night.”

She almost choked on her drink.

“See, I knew you wouldn’t be able to handle it.” He sat back down.

She laughed.

“What’s so funny?”

“That you think one hundred dollars is enough. Make it five and I’ll be Mary Fucking Poppins if you want.”

Summary:

Book 2 in the Blood Slaves series.

Rafe is a vampire and Adam is his human blood slave. But Rafe wants more—a blood bond. Adam, not willing to join the vampire world, leaves it all behind and heads for DC and a new life.

Back in town for the holidays, Adam and Rafe rekindle their romance and head to the local fetish club, The Catacombs, where Adam is known as Iron Man because of his hardware—a steel cock plug and chain harness. They spend the week having wild, aggressive, kinky-as-hell sex. Anything goes.

When it’s time to return to the real world, Adam is torn. Rafe is more than a vampire, more than his lover. He’s his partner. Adam isn’t sure he can give up his humanity, even for the man he loves. He has to decide—a vampire blood bond or his lonely human life in DC?

Note: Two sexy men in a fetish club can get into a lot of kinky situations, so be prepared for anything, including all-male, multiple-partner bondage sex and orgies in very public places.

Jae’s Review:

I've really enjoyed the Blood Slaves series by KyAnn Waters and was excited to start book 2, Iron Man. Rafe and Adam's relationship is very different from the previous story. In Iron Man, we start in the middle of a previous relationship. Adam is torn between his love of Rafe and his desire for a normal life. I loved the emotional twists and turns that Ms. Waters's takes her readers on throughout the story.

Although the beginning starts off at a slower pace than the previous book, it kicks into gear in no time for a solid flow throughout the story. I thought the ending was excellent and I'd tell you that I can't wait to start book 3, Dark Man, but the truth is I've already started it…I really couldn't wait. 

The world that Ms. Waters created is unique and interesting; it is by turns violent and sensual. A definite read for anyone that enjoys a powerful vampire tale.

Excerpt:

The sweet scent of sex permeated the air and seeped into his psyche. Adam paused at the perimeter of the room along with the other men, absorbed in the delicious display of masculine strength and sexuality.

Positioned in the center of the room was a metal-framed contraption. Sections of loose chains hung from the sides and short pegs held cuffs and tools. It resembled a guillotine, but instead of a blade, draped chains were anchored to a bar running across the top.

A bald man had his arms chained above his head. Biceps bunched and bulged, ropy veins popping from the strain of the effort. Amber light reflected off his head and his hairless body--a blood slave--glistened with oil. A gag bit was wedged between his teeth and a stretched leather-and-chain upper-body harness caged his tanned torso. Beads of sweat trickled down over corded eight-pack abdominals. Shackles banded his ankles and kept his legs spread.

Adam swore and swallowed hard. His gut clenched and pressure closed in on his throat. Rafe knelt in front of the chained slave, mouth wide, eagerly bobbing on his cock. Behind the slave, a third man had the slave's cheeks spread as he buried his face in the slave's ass and tongued his rim. Adam took a step into the room. A thick-fingered hand grabbed on to his arm.

Adam snapped his head around. "Don't." The one word rolled from his chest like a growl. The man released him and he stepped fully into the room. He stood behind Rafe. Wet sounds of sex fogged his mind, drowning out the sounds of the crowd.

"Is the room closed?"

Rafe backed off the slave's ruddy, engorged shaft. He turned slowly then stood. Adam's cock raged behind the tight leather and the steel ring of the cock plug harness bit into his shaft. Branding Rafe as his, he slanted his open mouth over Rafe's and thrust his tongue into the delicious depths. He tasted the tang of the slave along with the sinfully familiar flavor of Rafe. And he was warm. Pressure pounded in his temples.

A vampire remained in the Zenith for several hours after feeding. However, there was no way Rafe could still feel the effects from last night. Sometime before Adam had arrived, Rafe must have been beneath the club, the area that gave the establishment its name. Old catacombs beneath the city where vampires fed on hosts then entered the club to revel in the addicting decadence of the sensations lost to vampires except when they were in the Zenith.

He flattened his palms on Rafe's bare chest then slid his fingers to the steel posts pierced through each flat, beaded nipple. Adam pinched and twisted the steel--hard. "You're hot."

Rafe gasped and reared back. "So are you."

"I'm supposed to be." Adam wasn't the cold-blooded bastard who couldn't wait until he arrived. "Who?"

Rafe chuckled. "Jealous?"

"Did you fuck him?"

"Would it matter?"

"Yes."

"I'm glad you're here."

"Did you really think I could stay away?" This was their place. At home, Adam was submissive to Rafe but here they were partners. In The Catacombs, they'd been Masters of their room.

This wasn't their room and Adam wanted in.

"I hoped not," Rafe said. "You've never been able to stay away before."

No, he couldn't because this was their club, their fetish. However, Rafe didn't belong here without him. He raked his gaze up Rafe's six-foot, hot-as-hell firefighter frame. Black leather chaps encased long, strong thighs. A studded codpiece held Rafe's cock and scrotum. Quivers rippled along his oil-slicked abdominals. Bare chest, defined pectorals with hard nipples and those damn sexy nipple piercings.

"You couldn't wait and had to settle for some slave to service you?"

"No," he said matter-of-factly. "I couldn't." His eyes darkened dangerously. "He wasn't as good as you."

Adam smirked. "Not surprised." Rafe chuckled and some of Adam's jealousy eased. "So who's in charge?" he asked with a lowered voice. "You or the big vamp?"

"He is, for now, and you have to earn your way into the room the same way I did." Rafe nodded toward the vampire standing behind the slave. "He has the biggest cock you've ever seen." As if on cue, the vamp stepped forward.

Adam tugged on the gauntlets that encircled his wrists. "I'm ready. How does he want it?"

Rafe grabbed a measure of chain, spun Adam around and looped the chain through the rings on the gauntlets. Adam arched as his arms twisted and the chain tightened.

"Hard." Rafe flicked his tongue along Adam's neck. "Miss me, did you?" He nipped Adam's earlobe and tasted around the shell. Then he whispered, "But I'm the only one who is going to bite you--the only one who will fuck you."

Daring to Dream by Grace Cox

Daring to Dream by Grace Cox
Publisher: Lyrical Press
Genre: Erotica/Historical

Review Copy Received From Publisher

Summary:

They both want sex, they both have a secret... Sarah has little experience with men, but when wealthy and attractive Jason hires her as a nanny, the attraction is instant and fierce. He's completely unattainable, forcing Sarah to keep her growing passion a secret.

One fateful night reveals Jason feels the chemistry, but something -- or someone -- holds him back. How long can he deny his desire?

Content Warning: This title contains explicit sex.

Shelly's Review:

Daring To Dream is an emotional, heartwarming and romantic story. It seems completely realistic because not everything is perfect at all times. When a story seems that it could truly be real, it's so easy to get immersed in it.

Jason hires Sarah to watch his young daughter and they both struggle to prevent their attraction from going too far. When Jason is out of town on business, his daughter gets sick and Sarah sees that little Emily gets to the hospital and notifies Jason. Jason realizes he needs Sarah in his life and takes things to the next level.

In my opinion, this book is not too sexually explicit compared to what's out there to read today. This book is more about the romance than the sex, although the sex adds depth to the story. Daring To Dream gives me warm-and-fuzzy feelings for the characters and makes me glad I read the book. I think Grace Cox is an author to watch!

Author Review & Giveaway: Ice Man by KyAnn Waters

Ice Man (Blood Slaves, Book 1) by KyAnn Waters
Publisher: Ellora’s Cave
Genre: M/M, Paranormal, Mild BDSM, Multiple Partners

Review Copy Received From Author

Summary:

Book 1 in the Blood Slaves series.

Feeding and sex go hand in hand when you’re a blood slave to a vampire. It’s like a drug and Rowan is hooked. With the vampire Theron, Rowan has never wanted for more than his next fix. Until he meets Brett. Brett is hot, the sex is incredible and he’s human.

Brett is looking for kinky sex when he goes to The Catacombs, an exclusive fetish club for men. Flair bartender Rowan, also known as Ice Man, is sexy and mysterious. Brett isn’t ready to complicate his life with a lover outside The Catacombs and Rowan isn’t interested in club-scene sex but coming together and giving in never felt so good.

Rowan’s dark secret could destroy everything. He must never allow Brett to learn of his symbiotic relationship with the vampire. He has to choose—tell Brett the truth or remain a blood slave. He can only hope that Brett will trust in love enough to forgive him.

Jae’s Review:

Kyann Waters has created a very unique world in her Blood Slaves series. I thought book one in this series, Ice Man, was a great introduction to that world and these characters. The flow of the story is quite nice and always moves forward with very little drag throughout. The character development of Rowan and Brett is very good. Rowan is an interesting character. With a name like Ice Man, I thought he’d be more of an alpha character, but he’s not. He’s clearly more submissive than dominant, but his strength is amazing as well. He’s almost indefinable in his unique qualities.

Theron…well, I’m not sure whether to like him or hate him. He’s certainly dominant and clearly has a very well-hidden tender side that peeks out, but at the same time the choices that Rowan was forced to make have me wondering about the redeemability Theron’s character.

I really liked this story. I was compelled to turn each page and see what would happen next and how Rowan was going to fix this situation. He did the best that he could and Brett’s love gave him the strength he needed…that’s always a lovely thing to see.

This is my first KyAnn Waters book and I can’t wait to get started on book two in this series, Iron Man.

Excerpt:

Blood surged into his cock. Cool mist bathed his warm flesh and sent shivers down his spine. Drugging euphoria clouded his mind and his limbs grew heavy. He felt as if he melted into the bed beneath him. Some said the pleasure of feeding was like the high of a hallucinogenic drug. Pulsing erotic energy thrummed through his body. Scorching heat raged through his veins. Soaring higher, his cock grew longer--harder. He not only offered the blood in his veins, but also his aroused body. Maybe feeding was a drug. Without will to refuse, he'd certainly become an addict.

Whispered voices surrounded him. Hands caressed his torso. Faceless touches in the blackened room. His stomach quivered under their seeking hands. Fingers pinched his nipples, twisting until the sting had him moaning. His hips thrust into the blackness. He ached for relief from the delirium of intense pleasure.

Cool breath stirred against his throbbing cock. His essence oozed from the slit and trickled down the length. Moist, cold suction surrounded his cock head.

"Yes," he hissed through his teeth. His jaw clenched and his back arched off the bed. He needed more. Firm lips worked down his shaft, sucking him deep into the chilled cavernous depths of his lover's mouth. Heat pooled in his balls.

Strong fingers circled the base and tightened. Teeth scraped along the length as his faceless lover took more of his cock between those cold, soft lips. His heart pounded. Blood roared through his ears and sweat beaded on his brow. He wet his dry lips with his tongue, anticipating the high.

The cold mouth on his cock continued to slurp him into his throat, sucking him off and grazing him with teeth, just to the point of biting. Another cold tongue swiped his hard, pebbled nipple. The sensation nearly made him come.

Leather straps cinched on his ankles and anchored him to the bed. Although he could still buck against the delicious tongue lashing at his balls and cock. His arms, stretched above his head, were bound to the headboard. He could grasp the wrought iron bars, but couldn't pull free. The bed dipped on the left and another cold tongue traced the seam of his mouth and parted his lips. He was powerless to refuse the invasion. He opened and savored the dark flavor of his unknown master.

The kiss ended. Someone combed his bangs from his face. A tender caress traced the brows over his eyes and cupped his whiskered cheek. Warmth.

Theron. Powerful, dominant. And Rowan Huntington was a slave to him.

The Sheriff by Eryn Blackwell

The Sheriff by Eryn Blackwell
Publisher: Ellora's Cave
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, Western/Cowboys

Review Copy Received from Publisher

Summary:

Lorella Constonce runs a boarding house in 1887, Giddings, Texas, not a brothel. If she ran the latter, she might know how to entice the sexy Sheriff Jefferies to more than just her dinner table. The need to hide something from him doesn't help her cause.

Treydon Jeffries has a dead body in town and he suspects Lorella knows more than she's telling. Treydon's determined to discover her secrets, even if he has to seduce them out of her. With as many fantasies as he's had about Lorella, he wouldn't mind taking charge and finally putting her where she belongs—in his bed.

Publisher's Note: This story was previously published elsewhere.

Shelly's Review:

The Sheriff is quite a sensual read. Eryn Blackwell minimizes her words, but packs a lot into this story.

The sheriff wants Lorella, the woman who runs the boarding house, but hasn't approached her in the year that she's been in Giddings, Texas. During his investigation into a murder, he sets out to seduce Lorella in order to see what she knows.

As things escalate, Sheriff Treydon makes it clear that he doesn't share. The sex is intimate and sensual and Treydon can be a little demanding, which adds to the erotic nature.

I wasn't quite sure of this one since I thought it was a little short, but I'm quite impressed with all that came across in so few words. The Sheriff by Eryn Blackwellis an enjoyable read with a cute ending.

Summary:

Skye is dead, victim to a raging river. In the year since his violent death, Aileen has made peace with what she had a hand in and is moving on. But forces from deep underground have taken control of Skye's spirit and turned him into a wolf—a predator who remembers little except lust and need. He stalks Aileen in the wilderness, coming closer, driving her to the ground. She will submit. And when the claiming is complete, he'll force her to tell him how and why he died.

Shelly's Review:

I've enjoyed other books I've read by Vonna Harper, but I really couldn't get into Whitewater Hunter.

It really was strictly about the sex and Skye and Aileen didn't really know each other that well. The sex was played out in a slow manner and I didn't really feel the love.

This book was confusing at times and I didn't think it was romantic at all. Even though this one didn't "float my boat", I still look forward to reading more from Vonna Harper.

Twice Shy by Loribelle Hunt

Twice Shy (Spellbound Moon series, #2) by Loribelle Hunt
Publisher: Loose Id
Genre: Paranormal, Shape-shifter, Ménage (M/M/F)
Length: Novella

Review Copy Received from Publisher

Summary:

Harper is a witch on the run and the road ends in the only place offering sanctuary, the Redhawke werewolf pack. But that safety comes with a price. They’ll protect her from the men hunting her, but not from themselves.

Jonas is a soldier, a defender of the pack. He wants a mate who can stand toe to toe with him. Mick can. Harper can’t. That doesn’t change the need, the craving he has for her and when Mick brings the three of them together, he can’t resist their collective charms.
But he'll have to protect them from the danger that comes stalking, or he'll lose her just as he discovers he can’t live without her. And he doesn’t find a way to mend the mistakes of the past with Mick, Jonas may lose them both.

Kathy’s Review:

Among the various sub-genres found in the paranormal, shapeshifters are among my very favorite; wolf shapeshifters pretty much rule the pack. *grin*

In Loribelle Hunt’s second book in her Spellbound Moon seriesTwice Shy—I’ve found an extremely satisfying shapeshifter story loaded with sexual tension, hot-and-heavy romance, protective mates, danger and overall a very charming tale. The basic plot may be tried and true but for me that’s not at all a failing because Ms. Hunt is able to give it her own unique stamp. Her characters definitely made this their story and no-one else’s.

First off, for me, the mate imperative in most wolf-shifter stories is one of the best elements. I think it’s something about the mate bond, where mates are forever and that they’re connected on a most basic, primal level. Of course while Jonas and Mick are shifters, Harper isn’t... but it doesn’t take long before she gets caught up emotionally in the relationship between Mick and Jonas. Which leads to the ménage element; I really enjoyed the dynamics of the ménage in Twice Shy. While at first glance it may seem as the ménage is Mick-lite, I came to see that, while Mick is quiet, that in no way means that he has a diminished role in the trio. In fact, I think that if it hadn’t been for Mick we may never have seen Jonas and Harper able to build on their attraction.

Mick is a healer and that is very obvious in the way he deals with both his mates. He’s gentle when needed, especially with Harper, and demanding with Jonas. Of course Mick and Jonas have had a much longer time to develop a relationship. There’s a lot of background that I found quite intriguing and the more I read the more I really liked Mick. That’s not to say I didn’t like Jonas or Harper, I did. But Mick is the glue that held the three of them together. Both Jonas and Harper changed a lot throughout the story. Finally Harper was safe from the lifelong abuses suffered at the hands of her father. No she wasn’t immediately free from the trauma, but she finally had a place where she could be who she was and not fear retaliation. Jonas had to learn to let go of a number of self-protective behaviors; and I think that Harper’s arrival and the ensuing development of the relationship between Jonas, Harper and Mick was the key.

In many ways I felt as though there were two levels to the story in Twice Shy. The danger to Harper played a part and, while combined with the relationship side of the story, it had its own tempo. And of course the sexual, emotional and romantic development of the three-way relationship is the other part. I’m still not sure how that worked but after finishing the book I was in awe of Loribelle Hunt’s ability... I still am.

And yes, although this is the second book in Ms. Hunt’s Spellbound Moon series, it can be read as a standalone. But now, of course, I’ll be heading to get the first book in the series... nothing like being able to completely immerse myself in the world of the Redhawke werewolf pack. And I sincerely hope that there is much more to come! I’ve become rather hooked on Loribelle Hunt’s storytelling.

Changing Focus by Marilu Mann

Changing Focus (Lusting Wild, Book 3) by Marilu Mann
Publisher: Ellora’s Cave
Genre: Paranormal, Erotica, Contemporary Romance

Review Copy Received From Author

Summary:

Reluctant to be a Pack Alpha, Micah Keeps Vigil has no hesitation about what he wants in a mate. A strong, intelligent, passionate and, most importantly, shifter female. He’s found her in photojournalist Olivia. She’s come to Micah’s lodge to write about winter sports.

Olivia isn’t expecting a gorgeous man who encourages her wilder nature with a sizzling erotic encounter in her room. Nor does she anticipate the amount of steam they generate in the sauna. With Micah’s hot body and Olivia’s innate sensuality they generate enough heat to melt the snow around the lodge.

One problem—Olivia isn’t aware she’s a shifter. She believes her vivid dreams are just that—dreams—and that her blackouts can be controlled with medication. There’s no way she’s been running through the woods on four feet! Micah has to convince Olivia to accept herself—paws and all—or lose her forever.

Jae’s Review:

What a great story. Actually, I should say, what a great series. We had a lot of build up for Micah's story in Changing Times (book 1) and Changing Hearts (book 2). I was eagerly anticipating hearing who would snag this strong alpha male's heart. It was well worth the wait. Micah's story is amazing. Such strong personalities in all the characters and they shine through to the reader on each and every page.

Changing Focus has a very unique and multifaceted plot line. There are no dull moments in this story. It will keep you interested throughout the story to see what will happen with the turn of each page. The sensual scenes were top notch, but even better than that was the passion between our main characters at all the other times. Marilu Mann's ability to show the emotion to the reader was key in making this story work. With such diversity among the character's personal dilemmas and issues, their individual thoughts and feelings really had to shine through so that the reader could feel a part of it all.

I really recommend Marilu Mann's Lusting Wild series to anyone who likes a great story…it's that simple. If you like paranormal, if you like hot steamy romances, if you like alpha males with heart, if you like a strong heroine…the list goes on and on, and the point is if you read romance, you should give this series a try.

I can't wait to see what Marilu Mann has in store for her readers next.

Summary:

Book nine in the G-A-Y Series

Ellis thought a gay friendly hotel sounded nice. He didn't realise just how friendly the men there would be...

Ellis is gay and out - technically at least. Unfortunately the only other gay man he's acquainted with is his cousin Harry. When he suddenly gets the chance to visit a gay friendly hotel with his cousin, in exchange for paying his share of the petrol money, he assumes the impromptu holiday will be a nice gentle way to ease his way into gay society before he starts university in September.

Dominant Mitchell Thompson has fond memories of the hotel where he came out almost two decades ago. He returns there every year, and always finds it to be exactly the same unashamedly kinky hook-up party it has always been. When he stumbles across a sweet little novice who's obviously way out of his depth at the resort, his trip down memory lane suddenly becomes far more interesting.

Jae’s Review:

I really like Kim Dare's G-A-Y series.

They've all been wonderful stories as far as I'm concerned, but this story, Gay Friendly, is my favorite to date. I don't know what sets it apart exactly, but it's such a great tale of passion and exploration. I thought both characters were so vividly written. From the very beginning you understood both Ellis and Thompson, yet they were so different from one another.

The premise and plot were unique and fun. The passion was sizzling. I would love to hear about how these two continue on to explore their relationship. Kim Dare's characters really come to life in this series as a whole and in Gay Friendly in particular. I can't wait to see what the next story in the G-A-Y series will be.

Mark offers her a clean shirt of his to wear and takes her back to her room at the local inn. Justine gets bold and tells him to take his shirt back, then tells him to take her. Ooh! Of course, that's his dream come true, but then Justine wakes up alone.

Because of another misunderstanding, Mark and Justine are forced to pretend they have a relationship. Tatiana March adds in some sexual moments and you can see the love developing between the characters. This is a really cute story and the predicaments these two get into make it fun.

I thought that everything was going along well and then the author just put on the brakes. I felt there should at least be another chapter or an epilogue at the end of the story. The story itself was really good, but the ending kind of left me hanging on the edge with an unfinished feeling.

Summary:

Prosper is thrilled to be plucked from the corps de ballet to dance the lead role in The Firebird. But Jackson, the guest choreographer, is as sexy as he is demanding. Prosper soon finds herself flustered by his closeness and his unforgiving gaze. She gets caught up in kinky fantasies that make it difficult for her to concentrate on his steps. She imagines him as her Dominant, turning her over his knee for flubs in rehearsal. Just as sensual tension at work builds to an impossible level, a surprise encounter outside the studio results in Prosper’s fantasies being realized. Jackson takes his protégée home and ties her to his bed. Soon Prosper is receiving the discipline and domination she craves -- and much, much more.

The pair maintain a secret off-stage relationship -- scorchingly intimate encounters several evenings a week. But Prosper feels the burden of carrying the Firebird ballet on her back, and Jackson knows that his time in New York will draw to an end all too soon. Will Prosper crack under the pressure of pleasing her lover and bringing his vision to life, or will Jackson find a way to help his Firebird take flight?

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and elements.

Jae’s Review:

I wasn't too sure how easy it would be to get into Firebird. I know absolutely nothing about ballet or dance, and you start out thrown right into their world. But within two pages, if even that long, you're inside this world like you've belonged there all along. There are no awkward moments where you don’t understand what's going on – there is no long exposition to explain anything either. I'm not sure how Annabel Joseph did it, but she made me understand and involve myself in a world which previously I knew very little about.

The character development is outstanding, even secondary characters are brought to life with unflinching clarity. Readers will feel the emotions of the characters vividly throughout Firebird.

I can honestly say, only half-jokingly, that I tried to read the story slower and slower just so it wouldn't end.  There were many complexities within the storyline that added to the enjoyment of Firebird. I will warn that there are a few heavier scenes of BDSM, so if that's not something you read, this might not be the book for you.

If you haven't read this story, I strongly encourage doing so immediately. If you like BDSM stories, I can't imagine how you wouldn't love this one – and it's so much more than merely a great BDSM story.

If there was some way for me to rate Firebird higher than Five Delightful Divas and a Recommended Read, I would. This is my first Annabel Joseph book, and I can guarantee it won't be my last.

Deb's Review :

Must Be Doing Something Right by Wendi Zwaduk is a short spicy treat that will leave you melting as you turn the last page. Courteney and Nate’s story is not lacking in heart or heat. Nothing prepared me for such a delightful story. Courteney, is a fun strong heroine. Any reader can connect with her easily. Being done with men who have done her wrong, should she risk it again? To her surprise, in walks Nate, the one she wants. Being a playboy, could Nate love just her? Anything is possible with her dreams and the man who stars in them.

Nate, sweet, compassionate and rightly handsome just wanted to be liked for himself not his money. His feelings for his best friend Court comes to a head when he spends one unforgettable night in complete undiluted passion with her. . It will be interesting to see where this takes them both. Can these two make it out unscaved after their first round of office sex?

Wendi Zwaduk kept this story flowing nicely. The highlight for me was when Nate and Court truly realized what they were missing. This is a short story that I am proud to say, has made it to my “re-read” list.

If you want a great book to heat up your Summer then pick up Must Be Doing Something Right by Wendi Zwaduk and let the story flow through you.

Summary:

Message in a bottle.

Somewhere in the cobwebbed cellar of the decrepit antebellum mansion known as Ballineen are the legendary Lee bottles -- and Austin Gillespie is there to find them. The last thing on his mind is a hot and heavy romance with handsome bad boy Jeff Brady. But Jeff has other ideas and, after one intoxicating night, so does Austin.

The only problem is they have different ideas. Jeff doesn't believe in love at first sight, and even if he did, he's buried more deeply in the closet than those famous missing bottles of vintage Madeira. Popping a cork or two is one thing. Popping the question? No way. No how.

Unless Austin is ready to give up on another dream, he's going to have to figure out how to make sure the lights go on -- and stay on -- in Georgia.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Male/Male sexual practices, ménage (m/f/m), voyeurism.

Jaime's Review:

He didn't know it, but Mr. Lanyon was under a lot of pressure here. I will make the shameful confession right off the top that this is the first Josh Lanyon book I've read. Not the first one I own, but the first I've gotten around to reading. Being that he's an icon in my own genre, that is a huge oversight on my part. He's kind of like the guy we all want to write like, (and he's also an acquaintance and all round good guy). However, his work automatically goes into that category for me of "what's all this fuss about, then" Like blockbuster movies that I never seem to get the point of why everyone thought they were so great. Not so this time. Mr. Lanyon most definitely lives up to the hype and then some.

First off, there is some lovely description in this story. I wouldn't have thought there were so many ways to talk about wine. I enjoyed the little ways Mr. Lanyon pulled the theme through the whole book by using those same descriptions, through the main character's point of view, to describe some of what he comes into contact with, even when it had nothing to do with wine. It became a filter through which Austin sees the world, and really helps the reader to get into his skin and see what he sees, and that, in turn, helps to feel what he feels.

Every character in this book has a little something that makes them more than just a place holder. Mr. Lanyon has a gift for bringing each character to unique and interesting life, even if they're on the page only for a fleeting moment.

The mystery plot of this book might be its weakest point. It's pretty peripheral to the romance, I thought, and mostly happens off stage and through exposition. This story is definitely a romance with a hint at a murder mystery that is mostly backdrop and a device to bring Austin and Jeff together.

When the characters do come together, there is instant chemistry, instant tension, and when the sparks fly, it doesn't take long for the fire to follow. I would guess, just from this one book, that Mr. Lanyon doesn't lean toward writing a lot of sex scenes. The ones in this book are well placed and flow naturally with the rest of the narrative and, give the reader a lot of insight into the characters of both men. They're also the best chance we have of getting to know Jeff. While the physical descriptions of the scenes are understated, the emotional impact is phenomenal. He's somehow managed to skirt the more graphic details and dig right into the characters' hearts and souls, giving us a way more intimate view of what's going on that bed.

This is a romance in the true sense of the word, with love at first sight, clashing ideals and desires, passion and anger and self discovery. The characters grow and in the end, become who they were destined to be all along.

There was pretty much something to enjoy on every page. Josh Lanyon has earned the reputation he has by being bloody good at what he does. Well deserved, and I confess, I'm kinda sorry I didn't take the plunge sooner. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

My Recommendation: If you're a Josh Lanyon fan, or, like me, a neophyte, A Vintage Affair is a must read, with a definite feel-good flair.

.... And I still want to write like him when I grow up.
